What are continuing education units (CEUs) or in-service training?

CEU or in-service training is extra training over and above your working hours that enhances your knowledge of nursing skills. Certain college courses can also be counted. The required number of CEUs or in-service training hours for CNAs is 48 while for home health aides it is 24 hours in the two-year certification period.

What are the requirements for CNA?

To become a CNA you must be at least 16 years of age, meet the pre-screening requirements (physical exam, convictions), complete a minimum of 150 hours of training in an approved program ( 50 hours of theory and 100 hours of supervised clinical training in a nursing facility ), successfully complete a competency exam or be eligible through reciprocity from another state.
